Susan Burt is a freelance photographer and digital artist with a passion for animals, nature, photography and artistic expression. This love is expressed in her award winning photographic pieces, as well as her commissioned custom digital artwork.
Susan is a self-taught digital artist and photographer with more than thirty-five years behind the camera. Starting out by taking pictures as often as she could in her early years, she spent many hours learning how to develop and print black & white photographs. As digital cameras evolved, Susan moved to the medium as a way to combine her computer knowledge with her artistic creativity.
One area Susan specializes in is sighthound performance events, particularly racing. Sighthounds are a group of dog breeds such as Afghans, Borzoi, Greyhounds, Whippets and several others, and the amateur racing events involve fast and beautiful hounds in an intensely fast moving scene. Susan enjoys the challenge of capturing those extreme movements in flight in a freeze frame. By combining her love of these fast dogs with her passion for photography, Susan produces unique works of art by creatively applying her innovative techniques to the images she shoots. She also has a passion for horses and horse events and spends many hours just capturing the extreme beauty of the equestrian world.
Since moving to the mountains of Tehachapi seven years ago, Susan has expanded her craft to include scenic and wildlife photography. There is an incredible array of beautiful sights and with the four gentle seasons, there is a constant changing landscape to explore and capture.
Many of Susan’s images have appeared in local publications including Tehachapi Lifestyle Magazine, Experience Tehachapi magazine and the Greater Tehachapi Chamber of Commerce Business Directory. In addition, Susan has captured many of the local events such as the Culinary Club’s Feast at the Farm and Fall Cooking Challenge and has been in demand to spotlight many of the local businesses for their advertising needs.
